Even though my kids might like seeing their Easter baskets filled with lots of candy, after a couple of days they tire of it, and the candy ends up sitting around for weeks (or longer) until I throw it away. Instead of giving them things they won’t eat (and don’t need), I love it when the baskets are full of fun things they can use on vacation and when we go camping. These baskets are easily customizable based on your child’s age, too.
Activity Books Whether you’re looking for something to keep the kids busy on long car rides or on rainy days while camping, there are a ton of activity books to choose from. Here are 6 of our favorites:
Microfiber Beach Towel for ultra-absorbancy on those days when it seems like the kids are in the pool, out of the pool, in the lake, out of the lake, in the stream, out of the stream… you get the idea.
Exercise items If you have kids who are active in sports (or just plain active) these items make great gifts!
Games Great to play in the camper or at the picnic table, the games we recommend don’t have a lot of small pieces that could easily get lost and also don’t take up a lot of space. As campers know well, storage space is a commodity!
Rechargable Camping Lantern – this is useful for reading at night before going to sleep, playing cards outside at the picnic table at night and so much more!
Kids Canteen – How many times do you get stuck carrying their cup or water bottle? A canteen can be so helpful because kids can wear them over their shoulders.
Pressed Penny Souvenir Book – Pressed pennies are my favorite souvenirs because I can tell my kids “yes” almost every time they ask since they are usually only $0.51-$1.01 each.
Helpful Tip: We keep empty Mini M&M containers filled with quarters and pennies in our cars and camper so we always have change available whenever we come across one of the souvenir penny machines.
