Itinerary: Couples Weekend in New Jersey and Pennsylvania

Have you ever found yourself with a free weekend, but it’s taken you so long to decide what to do that you’ve lost half of your time simply in the search & planning part? That’s why we’re here! We’ve created an itinerary below perfect for a memorable couples getaway in Easton, Pennsylvania and Somerset County, New Jersey.

Saturday

  • 10:00 am: Hidden Spring Lavender & Alpaca Farm
    890 Route 601, Skillman, NJ 08558
    Cost: No fee to enter the farm unless it’s a special event day (which will be noted on their website).
    Lavender is in bloom in June & July, which is the best time to visit, though you can visit all year round. The farm is run solely by a husband and wife team, and the selection of items in their Lavender Shop are all handmade by them right there on their farm.
    Leave at 11:30 am.
  • 11:40 am: Sunset Park (7-minute drive from Lavender Farm)
    834 Co Rd 601, Skillman, NJ 08558
    Cost: Admission to the park is free.
    The park has a very small parking area and no restrooms, but it has a lovely 1/4 mile trail with art installations inspired by nature you can see along the way. When you get to the fork in the path, choose either way. It will loop around and you’ll come back to the same point on the way back.
    Leave at 12:30 pm.
  • 12:40 pm: The Peasant Grill (7-minute drive from Sunset Park)
    84 E. Broad Street, Hopewell, NJ 08525
    Choose from a variety of made from scratch soup, salads, sandwiches, quiches and delicious desserts, while you dine indoors or outdoors.
    Leave at 1:30 pm.
  • 2:00 pm: The Old Dutch Parsonage & Wallace House (30-minute drive from The Peasant Grill)
    71 Somerset Street, Somerville, NJ 08876
    Cost: Admission is free.
    George Washington’s winter headquarters were at Wallace House during the Revolutionary War’s Middlebrook Cantonment. Old Dutch Parsonage was home to Dutch Reformed Church ministers including the founder and first president of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.
    Leave at 3:30 pm.
  • 3:45 pm: AC by Marriott Bridgewater (8-minute drive from Wallace House)
    600 Somerset Corporate Boulevard, Bridgewater, NJ 08807
    Cost: Depends on room type and date, but average $170-200/night.
    Check into your hotel & freshen up before dinner.
    The hotel features an indoor pool and fitness center with Pelaton bikes, a rooftop bar, and a complimentary grab & go breakfast.
    Leave at 4:20 pm.
  • 5:00 pm: Old York Cellars (35-minute drive from hotel)
    MUST MAKE RESERVATIONS AT LEAST 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE.
    Chef Jose’s Especial 6-Course Pairing Experience
    Cost: $70/person
    Guests will be guided through each mouthwatering course and how the unique components of the food and wine create epicurean harmony.
    When you are finished, drive back to your hotel.

Sunday

  • Enjoy the complimentary breakfast at the hotel.
    Leave at 9:30 am.
  • 10:30 am: Twin Rivers Tubing (50-minute drive from hotel)
    Park at Pine Street Garage: Pine & S. 3rd Streets, Easton, PA; Use the ParkMobile App or pay at the payment kiosk located on each floor of the parking garage. You pay after you park, not when you leave the parking garage.
    Cost: $35/regular tube or $45/tube with backrest
    Please note: Cash only!
    Enjoy a 2.5-3 hour float down the Delaware River. You can bring a small cooler or there is a hot dog stand where you can purchase a snack or lunch. There are changing rooms where you will be able to change out of your bathing suit afterward.
    Leave at 1:30 pm.
  • 1:40 pm: Colonial Pizza & Spaghetti House (7-minute walk from tubing)
    136 Spring Garden Street, Easton, PA 18042
    Enjoy a welcoming, clean & comfortable dining environment while feasting on their famous “upside down pizza” or other traditional Italian dishes as well as some new additions to their upgraded menu.
    Leave at 2:45 pm.
  • 3:00 pm: Easton Antique Emporium (7-minute walk from lunch)
    20 S. Third Street, Easton, PA 18042
    Take a stroll through the 10,000 square foot mall featuring vintage and collectible items.
    Leave at 4:00 pm.
  • 4:30 pm: Separatist Blendary (7-minutes from parking garage)
    1247 Simon Blvd., N108, Easton, PA 18042
    Enjoy a drink among the barrels and see where the magic happens.
    Leave at 5:30 pm.
  • 5:30 pm: Easton Wine Project (located right next to the Blendary)
    1245 Simon Blvd., N103, Easton, PA 18042
    Choose from a delicious variety of appetizers, flatbreads, salads, handhelds, and bowls, as well as a variety of dry, sweet and fruit wines.
    Leave at 7:00 pm.
  • 7:00 pm: Owowcow (1-minute walk from dinner)
    1262 Simon Blvd., Unit B106, Easton, PA 18042
    Time for dessert! Owowcow uses local and organic cream and milk, fruits and vegetables, cage free eggs and raw honey to create extraordinary flavors and support the local community.
