Visiting Kentucky? Go to Bed in a Bourbon Barrel

Imagine this: rolling hills, the intoxicating scent of aged whiskey, and a place to rest your head that’s as unique as your favorite bourbon. Welcome to Bourbon Barrel Retreats, where your lodging is not just a stay but an experience.

The Bourbon Barrel Retreat Experience

Set on 50 gently rolling acres between Bardstown and Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, Bourbon Barrel Retreats is unlike any other lodging option in the area. The trademarked design makes these the only barrel-shaped rental cabins in the entire United States! Talk about a hidden gem, super special getaway!

Inside these cozy cabins, you’ll find 300 square feet of comfort, including a king-sized bed, a kitchenette, and a well-appointed bathroom. Seven of the nine cabins also feature private outdoor hot tubs, perfect for relaxing after a day of bourbon tasting. Tony and Christina Happeny, the masterminds behind this unique concept, previously created a glamping spot of geodesic domes in Nashville, “We call the barrels modern-rustic-cozy,” Tony says, “and they’re bigger than everyone anticipates with 10-foot ceilings.”

Excitingly, Bourbon Barrel Retreats plans to open a new onsite restaurant and whiskey tasting room in summer 2025. But if you are looking to go off-site, given its central location to 20 distilleries, including Buffalo Trace, Four Roses, Heaven Hill, Wild Turkey, and Woodford Reserve, guests will have no trouble finding a place to taste the bourbon Kentucky is famous for.

To top it off, Bourbon Barrel Retreats offers a 15 percent discount to all active and veteran military members and reduced rates for groups.
