Sandy Adventures Await: Exploring Coral Pink Sand Dunes

Hey, adventure-loving families! If you crave a sandy escapade that’ll have your kiddos grinning from ear to ear, look no further than Coral Pink Sand Dunes. As a mom always on the lookout for exciting outdoor adventures, this sandy wonderland had my little ones jumping for joy!

How to Get There

Reaching Coral Pink Sand Dunes is a piece of cake. From Kanab, hop onto Highway 89 and head north towards Orderville. Keep your eyes peeled for a sign that points you to the dunes on your left. Follow that sign, and soon enough, you’ll find yourself at the entrance to the park. Easy peasy, right? GPS does a pretty good job finding this location as well. You will be on the East side of Zion National Park.

Address for GPS: 12500 Sand Dune Road, Kanab, Utah

Things to Bring

Now, onto the sandy fun! As you enter the park, you’ll be greeted by endless stretches of soft, coral-colored sand dunes as far as the eye can see. Trust me, it’s like stepping into a desert dreamland! The best part? The dunes are perfect for little explorers of all ages—just be sure to bring along plenty of sunscreen and water to keep everyone hydrated and happy.

Bring sleds or snowboards for some good old-fashioned sand dune fun. Pro Tip: Make sure they are hard sleds, because flexible sleds won’t work as well. The park also has some you can rent if you don’t have your own for $25 per board. They can be rented from the Visitor Center.

Whether you sled down the dunes, build sandcastles, or simply roll around in the soft sand, you’ll find no shortage of sandy adventures at Coral Pink Sand Dunes.

Once you’ve soaked in the sandy scenery, it’s time to seek out the hidden gem of Coral Pink Sand Dunes—Sand Dune Arch. Check out our article here so you can combine two awesome adventures into one afternoon!

We don’t have kids, but this still looks really fun! I think I would also love to stay until the sunset – I imagine those dunes will look beeeautiful at sunset.

We had sand hills near us growing up and I loved sliding down them on big black plastic bags! Such fun.

I drove by the coral pink sand dunes when I was in Utah and now regret not making a stop as it looks fun! We had a tight schedule visiting Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks, Moqui Cave and Belly of the Dragon. Next time, I’ll make sure to make a stop!

We’ve spent a lot of time in Utah but haven’t made it to the pink sand dunes. I’ll add it to our list for one of our next trips.
