World-renowned violinist Itzhak Perlman will return for an intimate afternoon of music and storytelling on Sunday, May 7 at 4 p.m. During “An Afternoon with Itzhak Perlman,” the reigning virtuoso of the violin will perform select classical pieces and share stories, photos, and other forms of media from his archives and legendary career. Accompanying Perlman will be his longtime collaborator, pianist Rohan DeSilva. Tickets are available through ticketmaster.com and the Tantleff Box Office.

“Classical music performances are one of our core offerings at Tilles Center,” shares Tilles Center executive director Tom Dunn. “We’ve had the honor of hosting the famed violinist on our stage before, but what makes this particular event really special is that it also includes an intimate look into his life and career. Itzhak Perlman will play some select pieces, show footage from his archive, and share stories about his career, which spans more than six decades. We’re thrilled to offer our audience this bespoke intimate experience.” Having created music that defined a generation, Perlman enjoys superstar status rarely afforded a classical musician. Beloved for his charm and humanity as well as his talent, he is treasured by audiences throughout the world who respond not only to his remarkable artistry but also to his irrepressible joy for making music.

The upcoming event at Tilles Center will offer a glimpse into Perlman’s career, which has spanned from Schindler’s List to Sesame Street, and even the inauguration of President Barack Obama. Having performed with every major orchestra and at concert halls around the globe, Perlman has been honored with 16 GRAMMY® Awards, four Emmy Awards, a Kennedy Center Honor, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and a Genesis Prize.
