There are some events that your kids ask about once and then forget. And then there are events like Monster Jam.
The moment my kids heard that Monster Jam World Finals was coming back to Salt Lake City over Fourth of July weekend, the excitement started.
“Can we go?”
Within minutes, my kids were naming their favorite trucks, debating which competitions they were most excited to see, and trying to figure out which day would be the best to attend. By dinner that night, our entire Fourth of July weekend had somehow become a Monster Jam conversation.

This is not just any Monster Jam event. This is Monster Jam World Finals XXV, the biggest event of the year, and it is taking over Rice Eccles Stadium July 2 through July 4. Fans from around the world will be coming to Utah to watch 28 of the best trucks and drivers compete for championship titles in racing, freestyle, high jump, and two wheel skills competitions.
What I love most is that this feels like so much more than just a show. It is an entire holiday weekend experience.
Families can spend the day at the festival style Pit Party before the evening competitions begin. The Pit Party is included with Friday and Saturday event tickets and gives kids a chance to get up close to the trucks, see the details, and soak in all the excitement before the action starts.
And let’s be honest. Seeing these trucks in person is a completely different experience than seeing them on television. They are enormous. The engines shake your seat. The jumps make you hold your breath. Then somehow the drivers pull off things that seem impossible.
This year’s event sounds even bigger than usual.
Monster Jam officials are promising two secret stunt events that will happen on Friday and Saturday night. The details are still being kept under wraps, but organizers say fans can expect never before seen stunts and the reveal of two new trucks. As a mom, I can already hear my kids talking about it all the way home.

The custom track being built inside Rice Eccles Stadium also sounds incredible. Designed specifically for World Finals, it includes multiple jumps, steep turns, sections that climb into the stadium seating area, and a finish built for huge air and dramatic moments.
Friday night features the Racing competition, Freestyle competition, a Hall of Fame induction ceremony, and the first mystery stunt. Saturday night brings the Racing Championship, Freestyle Championship, another surprise stunt, and a Fourth of July fireworks spectacular to wrap up the evening.
If your family is anything like mine, summer calendars fill up quickly. But every now and then an event comes along that feels worth making time for.
The combination of monster trucks, championship competition, fireworks, and family fun makes this feel like one of those weekends the kids will still be talking about when school starts again.

So if you’re looking for something exciting to do this Fourth of July weekend, grab the kids, bring your ear protection, and get ready for a lot of noise, a lot of dirt, and a whole lot of memories. There are plenty of things to do over Fourth of July weekend in Utah, but few experiences combine world class competition, jaw dropping stunts, family entertainment, and patriotic fireworks into one unforgettable event quite like Monster Jam World Finals.
I have a feeling Salt Lake City is about to be very loud!
