July is one of my favorite months to explore Utah. The weather is warm, the kids are out of school, and it feels like every corner of the state is offering a new adventure. If you’re looking for family friendly activities, weekend road trips, and memorable experiences that will keep everyone off their screens and making memories together, here are my top picks for July!
There is something timeless about a baseball game on a summer evening. The excitement starts the moment you walk into the ballpark. Kids watch every foul ball hoping it might come their way, Bumble keeps the crowd laughing, and somehow a ballpark hot dog always tastes better than one made at home. Whether your family follows baseball closely or not, a Bees game is one of those experiences that brings everyone together for a few hours of simple summer fun.

If your family loves excitement, this is the event of the summer. Monster Jam World Finals brings together massive trucks, incredible drivers, gravity defying stunts, and a level of energy that is hard to describe until you experience it in person. The roar of the engines, the giant jumps, and the sheer size of the trucks leave kids completely mesmerized. Add in the Pit Party experience and you’ve got a family outing that will be talked about long after July is over.

The Butterfly Biosphere at Thanksgiving Point feels like stepping into a tropical paradise hidden in Utah. Thousands of butterflies float through lush gardens while kids search excitedly for one that might land on their shoulder. Beyond the conservatory, there are fascinating insect exhibits and hands on activities that make learning feel more like an adventure than a lesson. It is one of the most peaceful and beautiful family attractions in the state.

If your family has a GetOut membership, challenge yourselves to fit as many adventures as possible into one weekend. Start Friday night with a Bees game, spend Saturday cooling off at Splash Summit, and finish exploring the Ogden Dinosaur Park. One of my favorite things about GetOut is that it encourages us to try places we might otherwise overlook. The result is a weekend packed with memories instead of another weekend spent wondering what to do.

Every child goes through a dinosaur phase, and the Ogden Dinosaur Museum is the perfect place to fuel that fascination. With gigantic dinosaur exhibits, fossils, interactive displays, and a fantastic playground, kids can learn while feeling like they’re on an expedition. The outdoor dinosaur sculptures make great photo opportunities, and there is enough variety to keep children engaged for hours.

Utah is home to some of the most beautiful slot canyons in the country, and summer is a great time to experience one. For families with younger children, seek out beginner friendly options where you can walk between towering sandstone walls that seem almost otherworldly. The narrow passages, colorful rock formations, and feeling of discovery make slot canyon adventures one of the most unique experiences Utah has to offer.

When temperatures climb, Splash Summit becomes one of the best places in Utah to cool off. The combination of water slides, wave pools, splash areas, and family attractions means everyone can spend the day exactly how they want. My kids can hardly contain their excitement walking through the gates, and by the end of the day they are exhausted in the best possible way. Few places capture the feeling of summer quite like a day at the water park.

For many Utah families, Lagoon is a summer tradition. Whether your children are finally tall enough for a new roller coaster, love the family rides, or simply enjoy the midway treats and entertainment, there is a reason people return year after year. It combines thrills, nostalgia, and family fun in a way few attractions can match.

Located in Park City, Utah Olympic Park offers a unique mix of history and adventure. Families can learn about Utah’s Olympic legacy while watching athletes train and experiencing attractions that bring a little excitement of their own. It is a great option for combining education with adventure, and the mountain scenery alone makes the trip worthwhile.

No Utah summer list would be complete without Bear Lake. The bright turquoise water almost looks tropical, and there are countless ways to enjoy it. Rent paddleboards, relax on the beach, take a boat out on the lake, or simply spend the afternoon splashing in the water. Before leaving, make sure to grab a famous raspberry shake. It is practically a requirement when visiting Bear Lake and the perfect ending to a summer adventure.

One of the things I love most about living in Utah is that incredible family adventures are never far away. Whether you’re watching monster trucks fly through the air, chasing butterflies, floating through a water park, or spending a day at Bear Lake, these are the experiences kids remember long after summer ends.
So load up the car, pack some snacks, and start checking a few of these adventures off your July bucket list. Summer never seems to last quite as long as we think it will.
